Chinese indigenous mobile brand Xiaomi, which is the third largest smartphones brand in the world, is set to commence business in South Africa, Nigeria and Kenya this month. The Chinese phones would be sold and distributed through a distribution partnership with Mobile in Africa Group, starting with the Redmi 2 and Mi 4. Both will available from the middle of November, it was announced today, November 2.
Xiaomi will pass along a wide range of functions to an African distributor, suggesting the difficulty of reproducing its innovative online sales model in other markets. According to the company,its Redmi 2 and Mi 4 smartphones will be sold in South Africa, Nigeria and Kenya around the middle of this month. The sales will take place through a distribution partnership with Mobile in Africa Group, the company said.
